We will look at the G Dominant (G7) scale
Start with the G note on the D string and play the scale through the D string then the A string. Notice the 7th note of the scale is moved down one fret from F# to F natural.
The G7 scale has 0 sharps and 0 flats
Notice that the G7 scale resembles the C Major scale
The dominant scale will resemble the major scale of the 4th note of the dominant scale your playing.
